We had the pleasure of meeting Alec Soth during his visit to Penn April 16-17. Alec is a terrifically talented photographer based in Minneapolis who has completed several bodies of work including Niagara, Sleeping by the Mississippi, and The Last Days of W.
Alec gave a really thoughtful and funny artist lecture in which he reviewed his work, his feelings about his career, and his ideas about photography today. The next day he had crits with me and several of my classmates focusing in photography and he was again considerate and had some really good feedback.
He told us that he's at work on new projects, and I can't wait to see them. I've always liked his work and have followed his career for a few years now, and the chance to meet him was a great opportunity. He's just awesome.
